WHO AM I?

Hello, my name is Arimatea Neto, I’m in my twenties and I’m from Olinda, Brazil. As almost every Brazilian I love to go to the beach, to play soccer and Carnival. However, unlike many Brazilians I really love to listen to Rock and Blues.

My dream to become a Computer Scientist began when I was about 10 years old and decided that I would study it at the University. At first I didn’t have much knowledge about computers, I was just into games. But as I was growing up, I learned more and more. I even had my own servers to play games like Counter Strike and Tibia with my friends.

When I started the University in 2010 I didn’t have any idea about programming. At first I was afraid and didn’t like it. However, as I was learning new things and studying different programming languages and paradigms I fell in love with it. I became compulsive about studying programming languages and at the first three years of my undergrad I had learned a lot of things like Java, Python, Haskell, Lisp, Prolog, Assembly, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, PostgreSQL, Oracle SQL, MySQL and much more.

In 2013 I had the greatest opportunity of my life. I was accepted as an exchange student at the University of Toronto, Canada. The program, endorsed by the Brazilian Government, was divided in 3 parts: 4 months of english, 8 moths of Computer Science Undergrad and 4 months of supervised internship. I took that as the opportunity of my life and I used that 16 months to learn more about Computer Science, at that time I started studying things such as Neural Networks and Data Science. I also used my time in Canada to improve my english and most importantly, to meet new people and learn with other cultures.

At the end of 2014 I came back to Brazil to finish my undergrad. I still had one year at my University, so I used that time to learn more about Data Science, studying things like Data Mining, Sentiment Analysis, Recommending Systems and so on. I also developed my capstone project. It was about Cloud Computing and Multi-Tenant architectures (you can check it out here). Finally, in July of 2016 I finished my undergrad at Federal University of Pernambuco, Brazil and fulfilled my dream to become a Computer Scientist. In addition, in 2017 I started my Data Science and Anylitics specialization course at the University of Pernambuco, finishing it at the end of 2018.

Nowadays I’m working as a Full Stack Developer in a company based in Recife called Vinta Software.

The NTI (Information Technology Core) is the office from Federal University of Pernambuco responsible for the management of the software and hardware infrastructure of the University.

During my time at NTI I worked as a developer for the Sig@ UFPE, which is the academic management system of the University. At that time I worked with technologies as Java, JSF and OracleDB.

Great on Me was a Brazilian startup focused on the e-commerce business. Our main product was a virtual fitting room.

As CTO, my main role was to guide and help the development process. However, I also worked as Project Manager and Full-Stack Developer with technologies like Python, Django, PostgreSQL, JavaScript and JQuery.

During my time at Phosphorus Media I was involved in each step of the development process of five projects. My main position was full-stack web developer with technologies like Python, Django, PostgreSQL, JavaScript and JQuery. However, I also worked as a Mobile Developer in an Android app.

Locus Automação is a Brazilian company that works creating web and embedded management software to the dairy industry, cooperatives, agribusiness, etc.

As a full-stack developer, my main position was web developer working with Python, Django, PostgreSQL, JavaScript, JQuery and Git. However, as I already had some experience with those technologies, I also worked as Technical Leader and Scrum Master in two projects.

Intelivix is a company that creates software focused on the insurance business. They work developing web applications to their clients, in addition to web scraping and data science solutions.

As a full-stack developer, my main position is web developer working with Python, Django, JavaScript, JQuery, Backbone.js and Git. However, I have also worked with web scraping using Selenium and Scrapy, and some DevOps tasks with Ansible, Capistrano and Docker.
